Velkommen! Welcome to Hamingja - Heritage Farm & Nature Reserve!
"A Space Outside of Time"
Hamingja (HAM-ing-ja) is Icelandic for happiness, contentment & joy. It is a small Central Alberta farm for awareness and preservation of the ancient Soay sheep breed, Icelandic sheep, and landrace Icelandic chickens. Getting to know these amazing animals and birds provides the opportunity to learn about how these ancient breeds fit into today's agricultural scene. Healing in Nature, we provide opportunities to connect with land, waters, and life.
Breathe, celebrate nature, relax, enjoy a digital detox.
No AI here... it's REAL TIME! Time for YOU!

Hamingja - Heritage Farm & Nature Preserve is located on Treaty 6 Land, the ancestral and traditional homelands of the Nehiyaw, Dene, Niitsitapi, Saulteaux, Stoney Nakoda, and members of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Canada. We are grateful to live, learn, work, and travel in a good way within Treaty 6 and honor these people who have lived here for time immemorial. We reach out to all through Calls to Action in Truth & Reconciliation and with the intent of achieving greater understanding among everyone.
On the northern reaches of Hamingja - Heritage Farm & Nature Preserve, is the Blueberry Creek Healing Forest. This old growth forest is dedicated to all who wish to heal in nature and offers a gathering space for Elders for ceremony and sharing teachings. It is an honor space designed under the guidance of the National Healing Forest Initiative of Canada with a labyrinth created under the guidance of Cree Elder, Ekti Margaret Cardinal. We observe Orange Shirt Day, Missing Murdered Indigenous Woman and Girls Day (MMIWG), Indigenous Peoples Day, and regularly reach out to learn more about helping bridge worlds between peoples everywhere! |
